About ASBMAPT

The Asian Society of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Technology (ASBMAPT) aims to provide a dedicated forum for scientists, research scholars and industrial professionals to collaborate on scientific solutions for societal challenges. Our annual meetings will offer members and fellows a platform to share their expertise and publish research, with a specific focus on supporting young scientists. Additionally the society plans to organize symposia, seminars and workshops covering current developments in biomedicine and pharmaceutical technology. We will regularly publish the proceedings from these events to help disseminate research and address challenges associated with publishing in reputable indexed journals.

Proceedings of the Society

Scheduling: The Meeting of the Society will be held at  a date, time and place determined by the President.

Frequency: The Society shall meet atleast once a year.

Notice: The Secretary will issue a notice, call or mail to convene all Society Meetings.

Meeting Agenda: No business shall be discussed at any meeting except for the election of the President.

Meeting Chair: If the President is absent, the Vice-President will serve as the chairman/President of the meeting.

Voting: Each member is entitled to one vote, and all disputed questions will be determined by a vote. In the Event of an Equality of votes, the President shall have a casting vote.

Quorum: One-third of the members present in person shall constitute a quorum for every meeting.

Meeting Notices: Every notice for a Society meeting must state the date, time, and location. Notices may be served to members personally, by post, or via email using the address on the official roster. 

Duties and Responsibilities of the Advisory Board Members

Duties of the President: The President shall preside over the advisory board, meetings, award ceremony, and all other meetings pertaining to the activities of the Society. The President shall also advise and guide the Secretary in the day-to-day affairs of the Scientific society for effective functioning.

Duties of the Vice-President: The Vice-President  shall assist the President in running of the Society efficiently. In the absence of the President, the Vice-President shall exercise the powers of the President, subject to prior permission from the President.

Duties of the General Secretary: The General Secretary shall be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Society. This includes recording all proceedings of the Board, or any other meetings, and performing all other duties pertaining to the functions of the Society. Additionally, the Secretary shall serve as the publisher of the Journals/Newsletter.

Duties of the Treasurer: The Treasurer shall be responsible for the financial management of the Society. Responsibilities including keeping accounts, receiving deposits/funds and other authorized receipts, and disbursing money for authenticated expenditures incurred to further the objectives and effective functioning of the Society.

Duties of the Executive Member: The Executive members are attend and contribute to the Society annual meetings, help shape the direction of the Society by voting on key decisions. Connect and collaborate with fellow professional members.

Responsibilities of a Life Member of the Society: The Life members are the pillars of the Society and must abide by the rules and constitution of the ASBMAPT. Each member is expected to contribute to the effective functioning of the Society and uphold its traditions, values, and ethics.

Additionally, members should inform the Secretary of any significant contributions or achievements in their fields, meetings organized in collaboration with ASBMAPT, or any other related activities. 

Voting Power and Eligibility

All Life Members are eligible to participate in the voting process. However, disqualified Life members are not eligible to vote.

Honorary Members: Honorary members are not eligible to vote, but they are welcome to attend the General Body meetings and participate in any other activities furthering the Society's mission. 

Amendment of Bye-laws

Changes to these bylaws may be proposed by the Executive Committee. 

To ensure the bylaws remain current with changing organizational and scientific requirements, the Executive Committee may suggest amendments subject to the following conditions:

Formal Review: Any suggested modifications must be discussed at a formal meeting and supported by a written explanation

Impact Assessment: Committee members must assess the potential effects of the revisions on membership, governance and long-term strategy.

Approval: All Executive Committee recommendations must be considered and voted on by the society as a whole.

Implementation

Upon Confirmation of the Advisory Committee, these bylaws take effect immediately and will replace any prior Lifetime Membership policies. 

Please be advised that these Bylaws will become the primary governing guidelines for the Lifetime Fellow membership upon approval by the Advisory Committee. 

These standards will supersede all previous policies, procedures, and informal practices regarding Lifetime Fellows. To ensure uniform implementation of the revised policies, the Society will notify all relevant committees, members, and administrative bodies.

Implementation will be closely monitored to ensure full compliance and a seamless transition to the new regulatory framework.

Adoption

These bylaws were written to provide a transparent, equal, and unambiguous framework for honoring those whose lifelong dedication to scientific advancement best represents the primary goal of the Asian Scientific Society.  

Dissolution

The Society shall be dissolved by a three-fourth majority decision of the total members of the Society. In the event of such a dissolution, the debts and assets of the Society shall not be paid or disburshed among the members, but shall instead be transferred to another  registered Scientific Society with similar objectives.

Rules and Regulations

Constitution

The Society shall consist of Honorary Fellows, Fellows and Members.

a) Fellows: There shall be Fellows and Honorary Fellows. The Fellow will be elected on the basis of distinguished contribution in Biomedical Science and Pharmaceutical Technology including promotion and development and service towards the development of Biomedical Science. The procedure for election of fellows will be laid down by the regulations constituted by the council of association. Fellowship will become only effective after the payment of subscription.

b) Honorary Fellows: Honorary Fellows will be elected by the Council of the Asian Society on a restricted basis for their most distinguished service to the cause of science.   And some of the foreign scientists who have contact with Indian scientists and contributing for the development of science will also be considered as Honorary Fellows. 

(c) Members shall be open to all persons with graduate or equivalent academic qualifications and interested in advancement of science in India will be enrolled in accordance with the regulations of the Association.  The life membership will be a member for life. The annual membership will become due on 1st April every year.

Regarding the Website for ASBMAPT, the Society shall maintain an exclusive website for the organization. All maintenance  and related expenditures are to be borne by ASBMAPT, and the website maintenance must be carried out by an authorized software company.
